Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. She is an American actor in stage and films. The most well-known role she has played is as Teri her passionate lawyer Teri Jospehson on the Showtime TV series Soul Food. The actress is known under her married name, Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an interest in acting from the age of five and was awarded a Best Actress award at a Maryland high-school competition. Her acting career began after she joined the Washington Ballet Company and theatre. The first role she played in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was a success and earned an immense amount of admiration. This was followed by movies such as 'Boogie Nights Spark and Blue Streak. She was praised for her role as a character in Soul Food. Also, she appeared in TV shows like Second Time Around' and Empire. Prior to that, she was in numerous stage productions. Parker with a strong interest in politics she is currently married to actor/model Boris Kodjoe. The couple has two kids.
Contractor, who was brought up by his parents from Nigeria and Mumbai when he was 7, had traveled all over the world and had a taste of various cultures while growing up. After attending boarding school for seven years in London, her family relocated to Toronto Canada where she spent much of her early years and into early adulthood. Contractor was a successful academic in Toronto in addition to her training as the ballerina. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a high school for the arts that was specifically designed to be a school that taught not just dance but also theater. Contractor began acting at age 16, following nearly 10 years in dance. After graduating high school, she received a full-time grant to attend Toronto's University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in theater and a dual major in sociology and psychology. Contractor was given the lead role in Pericles following a brief time at University. She auditioned for the role during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and received. Her work was highly acclaimed throughout the 92 productions she appeared in. She was awarded the award in 2002 for the best production of the Year, as judged by Canadian critics. The conservatory in Stratford is home to eight males as well as four females and a handful of others for a weeks of crash courses. Her place was guaranteed during the upcoming series of plays as she was offered the part in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
